Withdraw from the MedPhys Match

The 2024 MedPhys Match

Things to Know

If you accept a position at a program that is not participating in the MedPhys Match, or if you will not be submitting any rankings of programs for any other reason, you must withdraw yourself from the MedPhys Match by the Rank Order List deadline.

Applicants who withdraw from the MedPhys Match will not be matched to a position, but they are still bound by the terms of the Applicant Agreement and MedPhys Match Rules. Withdrawn applicants are permitted to seek positions after the MedPhys Match. They will be able to access information on positions that remain available in the Post-Match Process.

If you do not plan to submit rankings but want to be included on the List of Unmatched Applicants that is provided to programs in the Post-Match Process, you should withdraw in the NMS Match System and select the withdraw reason that indicates you are still seeking a position.

Implications of Withdrawing

If you withdraw, you will not be matched to a position. Any rankings of programs you may have submitted will not be used in the MedPhys Match. You will also not receive further communications about participating in the MedPhys Match from NMS. However, you will be able to access information on positions that remain available in order to seek a position in the Post-Match Process.

If you do not plan to submit rankings but want to be included on the List of Unmatched Applicants that is provided to programs in the Post-Match Process, you should withdraw in the NMS Match System and select the withdraw reason that indicates you are still seeking a position.

If you withdraw, you are still bound by the terms of the Applicant Agreement and MedPhys Match Rules. You may not contact programs regarding positions available in the Post-Match Process until after the results of the MedPhys Match are released at 12:00 p.m. noon Eastern Time on March 27, 2024. If you decide to submit rankings of programs for the MedPhys Match, you can reinstate yourself prior to the Rank Order List deadline without having to execute another Applicant Agreement.

If you certify a Rank Order List and you do not withdraw by the Rank Order List deadline, your Rank Order List will be included in the matching process. If you are matched with a program, you must accept the position with which you are matched, as described in the Applicant Agreement.
