The 2024 Genetic Counseling Admissions Match

Match Results

Registered applicants must log into the NMS Match System to access their Match result.

Applicants who are not matched have access to the List of Programs with Available Positions. Programs may add or remove themselves from the list at any time.

Log Into NMS Match System

Although NMS makes every effort to provide you with your Match result expeditiously, failure to receive your result in a timely manner does not affect your obligation to the program where you are matched.

If you matched, the program where you matched will send you a letter of confirmation within 10 working days of the release of the results. You must return the letter in accordance with the program's instructions within 17 working days of the release of the Match results, not later than May 10, 2024.

If you did not match, you may participate in the Post-Match Process for any available positions.

Post-Match Process  (Unmatched Applicants Program)

Programs with available positions are permitted to fill those positions with applicants who did not match with a program. NMS is not involved in the filling of positions during the Post-Match Process.

  • A Message from AGCPD/GCEA to Unmatched Applicants

Genetic counseling programs accredited by the ACGC work together to try to ensure that as many qualified candidates as possible are admitted to programs each year. The AGCPD/GCEA's Unmatched Applicant Program was designed to help connect qualified unmatched applicants with genetic counseling programs that still have open positions following the Match. The Unmatched Applicant Program/Post-Match Process is only open to registered applicants who did not match with a program. Unmatched applicants can log into the NMS website to see a list of genetic counseling programs that have open slots through May 31, 2024. Should a slot come open at an AGCPD/GCEA full-member program between May 31, 2024 and prior to the University's deadline to enroll for the 2024-2025 academic year, programs must receive approval if they intend to fill the position.

List of Programs with Available Positions

Applicants who are not matched can log into the NMS Match System to access a List of Programs with Available Positions. The list may include programs that participated in the Match that have positions available, as well as programs that obtained ACGC accreditation after March 15, 2024, that have chosen to participate in the 2024 Post-Match Process. Unmatched applicants are encouraged to take the initiative in contacting programs that they are seriously interested in attending.

The List of Programs with Available Positions may be updated by programs at any time. Programs may remove themselves from the list if they prefer to contact unmatched applicants directly, or if they fill their positions. Programs may also add new positions to the list as they become available.

Information on Unmatched Applicants

Programs have access to information on unmatched applicants via the NMS Match System. Programs may request that interested unmatched applicants complete an application, provide associated materials, and attend an interview. Programs may also ask the applicant for permission to talk to the programs where the applicant previously interviewed.

The NMS Match System will close for the Post-Match Process on May 31, 2024.
