Distribution
Email: Match result notification emails will be sent to all programs and applicants that submitted Rank Order Lists. The emails are sent in the morning of the Match Results Day for each Phase of the Match with the intention of having all emails sent by 12:00 p.m. noon Eastern Time. Due to unreliable email exchanges and inbound servers, we cannot guarantee a delivery time for the emails.
Web: Beginning at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time on the Match Results Day for each Phase of the Match, each registered applicant and residency can log into the NMS Match System to access their Match result online.
The same Match result information will be provided by email and in the NMS Match System for each Phase of the Match. Any residency that does not receive its result by email should access their result from the NMS Match System.
Filling Available Positions After Each Phase of the Match
After Phase I: Participate in Phase II of the Match
Programs with unfilled positions in Phase I of the Match will offer those positions to unmatched applicants in Phase II of the Match. New programs or positions that receive funding after Phase I of the Match may also be added into Phase II of the Match.
Applicants who did not obtain a position in Phase I of the Match or who did not participate in Phase I will be able to use PhORCAS to submit applications to programs participating in Phase II of the Match beginning at 9:00 am Eastern Time on March 24, 2025. Programs can also access the NMS Match System on this date to view a list of applicants who submitted Rank Order Lists for Phase I of the Match but did not match to a position.
All programs with available positions after Phase I and all applicants seeking positions after Phase I must submit their Rank Order Lists by the Rank Order List deadline for Phase II of the Match. A second match will be carried out using those Rank Order Lists, and the results of Phase II of the Match will then be distributed.
After Phase II: Participate in the Post-Match Process
Following release of the Phase II Match results, programs with unfilled positions are permitted to seek and fill their positions that remain available independently of the Match. NMS is not involved in the filling of positions during the Post-Match Process.
Beginning at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time on April 23, 2025, registered applicants who did not obtain a position in either Phase of the Match will be able to access a list of programs with positions available in the Post-Match Process. Programs will also have access to a list of applicants who certified a Rank Order List but did not obtain a position.
Applicants participating in the Post-Match Process will be able to prepare applications in PhORCAS beginning on April 23, 2025 and submit applications to programs with available positions beginning at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time on April 24, 2025.
The recommended date for programs with available positions to begin making offers to applicants during the Post-Match Process is April 30, 2025.
Programs will be able to update information on the list of available positions in the NMS Match System until May 31, so that applicants seeking positions during the Post-Match Process can obtain up-to-date information on the availability of positions.
