Applicant Registration
Applicants who wish to register for the APPCN Resident Matching Program (the "Match") for clinical neuropsychology residency positions beginning after June 1, 2009 should follow the procedures outlined below.
Prior to Registering
- Carefully review the information provided on this web site that describes how the Match works. In particular, review the Overview section, including the Eligibility criteria and Rules for participation, as well as the section describing the Match Process, including the Example and Discussion. You may wish to print those pages for future reference.
- Review the APPCN Match Policies and Schedule of Dates provided on this web site. All participants must abide by these policies and dates. Copies of these pages are included in the document containing the Applicant Agreement, which can be downloaded by following the instructions provided at the bottom of this page. Alternatively, you can also print the pages displayed on this web site for future reference.
Procedure for Registering
- To register for the Match, each applicant must submit to National Matching Services Inc. (NMS) a signed Applicant Agreement, together with the non-refundable $125 U.S. applicant registration fee. In addition to the Agreement and fee, each applicant should also submit an Applicant Information Form, which accompanies the Agreement.
- You should download and print the Applicant Agreement and related materials by following the instructions provided at the bottom of this page. The file that you download includes: a memorandum of instructions, which you should read carefully before completing the Agreement; the Applicant Agreement and Terms of the Agreement; the Applicant Information Form; a checklist of registration procedures; the Schedule of Dates; and, the APPCN Match Policies.
- Two applicants who wish to coordinate their matches (e.g., obtain positions in the same geographic location) may participate in the Match as a "Couple". Each applicant must first register to participate in the Match as an individual; applicants identify themselves as a couple when they submit their Rank Order Lists for the Match. Click here to obtain further instructions for participating in the Match as a couple.
- It is recommended that applicants register for the Match by January 9, 2009.
- Once you are registered for the Match, National Matching Services Inc. will send to you, either by e-mail or by regular mail, a confirmation of the information from your Agreement on file at NMS. The confirmation will include your applicant Code Number for the Match. You should provide your applicant Code Number to the programs to which you apply.
Applications to Programs
- Registration for the Match does NOT constitute an application to any of the programs participating in the Match. You must still apply directly to any and all programs in which you are interested. Application deadlines for programs vary; therefore, you should check with each program as soon as possible regarding its application deadline dates.
- APPCN member programs expect applicants to have completed all requirements for the doctoral degree prior to beginning a postdoctoral residency. Appplicants registered in the APPCN Match who have not yet received the doctoral degree should download the Doctoral Training Verification Form from the APPCN web site (www.appcn.org/training.html) and have the form completed by their dissertation advisor or Director of Clinical Training. A copy of the completed form should be provided to each APPCN member program to which you apply. (Do not send this form directly to NMS or APPCN.)
