Contents of Match Results Page
The first part of the results page shows the students matched to your institution. If your institution offered more than one program in the Match, the results are separated by program. For each program, matched students are listed in alphabetical order, and the number of funded positions offered and filled are shown.
Following the list of students matched to each program, the results page also includes a listing of the Match result for each of the students ranked by your institution. Students are listed in alphabetical order, and the institution and program to which each student matched are shown. Students matched to your institution are highlighted by an asterisk. The information in this report is confidential and should not be distributed or made available to anyone outside your institution.
Contracting With Matched Students
Each student who participated in the Match is being notified of his or her result in the Match via this web site and by e-mail. However, you should also contact the student(s) with whom your institution is matched to acknowledge the Match result as soon as possible.
The results of the Match constitute a binding agreement to contract with the student(s) matched to your institution. Your institution must complete an institutional contract for each student matched to your institution and send it within 10 working days after receipt of the Match results to the student for his/her signature. The student must then sign the contract and return it to your institution within 30 days of receiving the contract from your institution. You should retain a copy in each individual trainee's file. Later in the year, the AOA will conduct an audit requesting each institution to provide a list of individuals currently in its training program for whom signed contracts are on file. (Note: For applicants matched to an Option 2 specialty residency program, the institution that will be providing the OGME-1 training must provide the contract to the applicant immediately following the Match. A separate contract for OGME-2 training must then be provided to and signed by the applicant no later than March 1 of the applicant’s OGME-1 training year.)
NOTE: You are required to notify the AOA immediately of any releases or breaches of confirmed matches to a program.
Available Positions and Unmatched Students
Any program in your institution with unfilled OGME-1 positions after the Match has been included in the listing of available positions, which is posted on this web site for the use of unmatched students. In addition, if any program in your institution reverted all its unfilled positions to another program, but one or more of the reverted positions remained unfilled after the Match, then the program that originally offered the position(s) has also been included in the listing of available positions. The donor program is shown in the listing with 0 openings, but students interested in the program are instructed to contact the institution to determine if you may be interested in accepting applications for the program.
You may now make offers to any student who did not match to a position, or to any student who did not participate in the Match, to fill any available positions. Please refer to the Post-Match Procedure established by the AOA for non-matched students and institutions with available positions.
Information on students who participated in the Match but were not matched can be displayed from this web site, or downloaded in a file. In addition, a file of contact information for students who did not participate in the Match is also available for download from this web site.
