Applicant Registration
Applicants who wish to register for the AOA Intern/Resident Registration Program (the "Match") for positions beginning in 2011 should follow the procedures outlined below:
Prior to Registering
- Review the terms of the Applicant Agreement. As part of the process of registering for the Match, you must agree to comply with and be bound by the terms of the Applicant Agreement. You should print that page for future reference.
- Review the Schedule of Dates provided on this web site. All Match participants must abide by the dates noted on the Schedule of Dates. You should print that page for future reference.
- Review the other information provided on this web site that describes the Match. In particular, review the Description section in its entirety. You may wish to print that section for future reference.
Procedure for Registering
- You must register for the Match using the online registration system, which can be accessed using the link provided at the bottom of this page. You should register only once. After registering, you can update the information you submitted by selecting the option in the menu on the left for Registered Applicants-My Profile.
- To register for the Match you must provide your 6-digit AOA ID Number, which has already been assigned to you by the AOA. If you do not know your AOA ID Number, please contact your Dean's office or the AOA Member Services Center at 800-621-1773 (select option 1).
- The AOA charges a fee of $60 US to register for the Match. This registration fee is non-refundable, non-transferrable and irrevocable. The fee is collected by NMS on behalf of the AOA, and must be paid to NMS when you register for the Match.
- It is recommended that applicants register for the Match by November 1, 2010, although registrations can be accepted after that date if necessary.
- Two applicants who wish to coordinate their matches (e.g., obtain positions in the same geographic location) may participate in the Match as a "Couple". Each applicant must first register to participate in the Match as an individual. After both applicants have registered, they can update their profiles to indicate they are part of a couple and identify their partner. Click here to obtain further information on participating in the Match as a couple.
- When your registration process is completed, you will be identified in the Match by a 6-digit Match Code Number. In most cases, your Match Code Number will be the same as your AOA ID number. Use your 6-digit Match Code Number in all future correspondence pertaining to the Match. You will need your Match Code Number and the password/PIN you provide when you register in order to access your profile, submit your Rank Order List and obtain your Match results from this web site.
Applications to Programs
- Registration for the Match does NOT constitute an application to any of the programs participating in the Match. You must still apply directly to any and all programs in which you are interested, prior to the application deadline date established by each program. Information regarding osteopathic postdoctoral training programs is available from the Opportunities database provided on the AOA web site at www.opportunities.osteopathic.org.
- Applications are submitted to programs using the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). ERAS is a separate and distinct service from the Match, and applicants must register to use ERAS separately from registering for the Match. ERAS is used by applicants to apply to programs, while the Match determines the final placement of applicants into programs. Information on the use of ERAS to apply to osteopathic programs is available on the AOA's web site at www.do-online.org.
- You should provide your 6-digit Match Code Number to the programs to which you apply, as they require this number in order to rank you on their Rank Order List. However, you should keep your password/PIN confidential; do not provide your password/PIN to any programs.
